It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2019-2020 boys basketball season. Our staff is looking forward to another year of success for all of our athletes on the court, in the classroom, and as ambassadors for Gov. Thomas Johnson High School in the Frederick County community. We will be moving up in class this year to the MPSSAA 4A West Region. Our team is also a proud member of the Central Maryland Athletic Conference.
The last two years we have been the league champions in the Spires division and 3A West Regional Champions. In two years we have had a record of (2018 23-4, 2019 21-6) and making to the final Four of the MPSSAA basketball tournament. We strive to be an extension of the classroom by displaying our education with character motto through our basketball program. It is our goal each year to be a competitive force in Frederick County and the state while still maintaining our character base.
In order to accomplish this, it is important that our coaches, athletes, teachers, administration, and parents all work together and pull in the same direction. Our coaches and athletes have been working hard in the offseason in preparation for the upcoming season. I want to thank my staff for all of the extra time they spend with our student athletes outside of their seasons. It is during these countless hours of volunteer work that our athletes see the most improvement and growth. I want to thank all of you for your continued support of the Governor Thomas Johnson High School basketball program.
In closing, a great way to support our athletics is by joining and becoming involved in the Athletic Booster Club. They are a big reason we have this media guide and a big reason we are able to supply quality equipment and training aides so our program can be successful. GO PATRIOTS!
