Coach O'Hara's Coaching Bio:
O'Hara, a graduate of Salisbury University, is entering his fourth year as head coach of the Girls Indoor Track and Field team at Gov. Thomas Johnson HS
O'Hara started his coaching career as a Graduate Assistant at his alma mater, Salisbury University. Following Salisbury, O'Hara continued his coaching career at Mount St. Mary's University where he was the Cross Country and Distance Coach for 10 years. During his time, O'Hara guided Northeast Conference (NEC) champions in the 800m, 3000m steeplechase, 5,000m, distance medley relay, and 4x800m. O'Hara also guided student-athletes to 7 Mount St. Mary's School Records in Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field as well as one NEC meet record and NCAA Qualifiers in the 800m and the 3000m Steeplechase.
During his collegiate career O'Hara was a two-time All Mid-East Region Cross Country selection and was First Team All-Conference Cross Country selection all four years. He held Salisbury's indoor school record for both the 1500m and the 1000m, and was a two-time 1500m Outdoor Conference Champion.
O'Hara, originally from Frederick, ran at Governor Thomas Johnson High School (C '97). He earned his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education in 2001 and his master's degree in Middle/Secondary Education in 2003 from Salisbury University.
O'Hara and his wife Heidi currently reside in Frederick with their two daughters Lily and Lucy.
Girls Indoor Track & Field Season Preview:
The girls Indoor Track & Field team will be looking to use their depth and experience to continue to improve during the 2019-2020 season. Returning 3A West Region Champion and State Championship qualifier Deborah Obadofin (Sr. Hurdles) will lead the way for the Patriots. Deborah established herself as one of the best hurdlers in the State last year and will look to continue her improvement. Ariana Jones (Jr. Shot Put), Rachael Adeoye (Sr. Shot Put), and Jayden Fosburg (Jr. 800-3200) will also look to use their experience and talents to continue to improve the Patriots this year. The girls team also has a number of newcomers to the team who will look to make their marks as the season progresses.
